Urban Crop Solutions is an innovative AgTech Start-Up in the controlled environment vertical farming industry, who develops systems to grow crops indoor in vertical layers with the help of LED lights. Our target markets are Europe, USA, the Middle East and Asia.

What do we expect from you?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, results-driven Business Development Manager who will be responsible for the North-American region. You are responsible for identifying prospects and building long-lasting relationships with them. As a Business Development Manager, you work together with our team in Belgium to offer the optimal solution for your clients. You report the commercial status to the Management.

Responsibilities include:

  • End-to-end responsibility for the entire sales cycle.
  • Identify, develop & close high value deals.
  • Convert sales leads into qualified sales opportunities through active prospection.
  • Grow and manage the pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet and exceed sales goals for indoor vertical farming solutions.
  • Personally develop and maintain relationships with key market influencers.
  • Maintain a close relationship with our clients.
  • Represent the company at trade-shows and conferences
  • Work with channel partners to develop and cultivate a trained distribution network capable of maximizing market penetration.

General requirements

  • Proven ability to pro-actively find, identify and develop relationships with prospects.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring varied solutions into undeveloped territories and customers. Dynamic ability to work across industries and rapidly acquire domain knowledge.
  • Skilled in successfully handling complex selling situations and negotiations; as well as consultative & strategic selling techniques.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and successful participation in a teamwork environment.
  • Fluent in Business English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assist/conduct sales training in support of channel expansion and new product introduction.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively, focusing on both long-term objectives and short to medium term execution.
  • Client-focused, responsive, professional and sales-driven.
  • Ability to create and maintain sales forecasts, and report on sales progress.
  • Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Business Apps/CRM tools.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales revenue and client base in a region or market segment.
  • In your function you’re supported by the newest software and a healthy team spirit of a fast-growing dynamic company.
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience is a must!
  • You describe yourself as eager to learn, flexible and motivated. You work with structured and have eye for detail.
