Urban Crops wins Culinary Innovators Award by Gault&Millau

Monday, May 9th was the premise for the first annual Gault & Millau’s Culinary Innovators Awards show. During the event at the prestigious Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke – Belgium, Urban Crops won the Product Award, out of over 70 nominees in 8 categories.

“This award is a valuable recognition of the quality of the installations that we market to our customers today”, testifies Brecht Stubbe, Head of Sales. “We thank the award to our container solution, utilized by a large Belgian catering company”. Maarten Vandecruys continues very proudly: “the best solution for every customer, is what we stand for. Our concepts are drawing a lot of attention abroad. We hope that with this award we can grow at an even higher pace!”

Urban Crops brings us this innovation as an independent reference in the fast-emerging Urban Farming Industry, whereas at this moment they have the largest fully-automated ‘Vertical Farm’ in Europe installed at their headquarters in Beveren-Leie – Belgium. This as a proof-of-concept for potential clients and to further the biological and plant research for new possible crop varieties. Next to manufacturing their cultivation mediums Urban Crops has over the years developed and tested several recipes which can be used in indoor farming installations.
